    Edenvale is a residential neighborhood located in South San Jose with a heavy Asian and Hispanic population. It’s a quiet community with lots of trees and neighborhood parks that reflect a casual, family-friendly lifestyle. Named as a reference to the Garden of Eden, Edenvale is a neighborhood with mostly single-family homes on well-manicured properties with old, established trees and beautiful landscapes. As a community in San Jose, Edenvale provides good job opportunities, excellent schools, and lots of things to do.

     

    What types of homes are in Edenvale?

    Edenvale real estate is primarily made up of three and four bedroom single-family homes and townhomes. Homes typically have two or three full bathrooms, large eat-in kitchens and family rooms. Most neighborhoods in Edenvale, unlike other San Jose neighborhoods, were built between 1970 and 1999 during the boom of high-tech companies moving into the area. As you drive through Edenvale, you’ll notice that all the homes here have a distinct similarity with mostly California ranch-style architecture that includes open floor plans, two-car attached garages, and shingle roofs.

    The Hayes Mansion, a California historical landmark is located in Edenvale. Once home to the Hayes family, it’s recognized as one of the country’s best examples of 19th-century architecture on the National Register of Historic Places. The beautiful structure built in the form of a Maltese cross is now a hotel resort surrounded by a 20-acre park.

     

    Where are the good schools in Edenvale?

    In addition to these highly-rated public schools, there are many private and charter schools in the Edenvale area. The University of California, Berkley and San Jose State University are located within 20 miles of Edenvale.

    What are the best things to do in Edenvale?

    Edenvale has a lot of beautiful parks where you can head outside to enjoy family-friendly activities. Hellyer County Park, located just off Highway 101, is a large 354-acre park with a velodrome, a special cycling track. The park is also home to Cottonwood Lake where you can enjoy boating, camping and fishing. Edenvale Gardens Regional Park is a 20-acre park with picnic areas, a youth playground, a sand volleyball court and three tennis courts. As a San Jose neighborhood, Edenvale is close to big city amenities like great shops and restaurants, museums and art galleries, theaters, nightclubs, sporting events and non-stop entertainment venues.

     

    Where are the best places to shop around Edenvale?

    Edenvale has numerous small shops that are mostly family-owned boutiques, hardware stores, and grocery stores. The Westfield Oakridge Mall on Blossom Hill Road is a great place for shopping with hundreds of stores where you can find fashion, household, and food items. With a quick drive into downtown San Jose, you have access to designer clothing, furniture and antiques, specialty food shops and much more.

     

    Is Edenvale right for me?

    Edenvale is a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood with good jobs, good schools, and a casual lifestyle. Most people who live here work in nearby San Jose where the economy is strong with an abundance of high-paying jobs in high-tech industries. Rail service to and from San Jose is provided by Amtrak Coast Starlight and Caltrain with easy access from Edenvale. The neighborhood has beautiful parks and good shopping areas, and an easy commute to San Jose offers everything you could possibly want.
