What’s it like to live in Pacifica?

While Pacifica, CA is only minutes from San Francisco, you’ll feel like you entered a totally different area since Pacifica truly is a coastal paradise. Known for its mild Mediterranean weather, you’ll enjoy hiking along the trails and the mountains near the Pacific Ocean, as well as numerous oceanfront activities including surfing at the beach or fishing at Pacifica Pier. Pacifica also offers a cultural-rich and business-friendly atmosphere for residents. In the evenings, you’ll have your choice of concerts at Pacifica Performances or local plays at Pacifica Spindrift Players. In addition, you’ll find an active Chamber of Commerce and multiple business districts, including Crespi Business District, featuring professional services, trade stores, and restaurants.

What types of homes are in Pacifica?

Since Pacifica is nestled among the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Range, as well as numerous beaches. You’ll also notice that most of the homes and neighborhoods are hidden back from the busy highway and you have stunning ocean or mountain views. Since there is no official town center, you’ll find parks, beaches, and shopping districts in each neighborhood. Inside the Sharp Park subdivision, you’ll find everything from converted vacation cottages to luxury custom homes. You’ll find that several of these homes offer spacious decks, ideal for whale watching right from your backyard. In addition, this community features its own mile-long beach and Pacifica Pier, along with a local shopping district. Another option would be houses in Fairway Park as many of the houses constructed in the 1950s have recently been updated, and you’ll find a golf course, baseball field, and archery range within the community. The houses are often traditional ranch-style with spacious kitchens, living spaces, and large backyards for entertaining. You’ll find so many other neighborhoods but my favorite is Linda Mar, because you’ll find activities for your entire family from the Community Center to skating at the county park. While some of the designs of the homes may look similar, again several have been updated, making this a peaceful and serene neighborhood that offers valley and mountain views.

What’s unique about Pacifica?

Pacifica features a close-knit community and multiple business districts. In the largest one, the Linda Mar Shopping Center, you’ll find an upgraded grocery store, restaurants, and even clothing shops and specialty stores. Other business districts like the Crespi Business District feature the Pacifica Athletic Center, the Post Office, and other professional services as well as beachfront restaurants. You’ll see that the Chamber of Commerce holds many annual events honoring local businesses and restaurants, including an awards banquet for innovative new businesses, business of the year, and hardworking volunteers. In addition, every June, the Chamber of Commerce hosts the Taste of Pacifica, where you can sample cuisine from top local restaurants.

Where are the good schools in Pacifica?

You’ll find several highly-rated schools within many neighborhoods in Pacifica, CA.

In addition, you’ll find several colleges within minutes of Pacifica if you wish to further your education or as your teenagers finish school. These include Skyline College, which is part of the San Mateo County Community College District and offers degree programs like networking and communications, cosmetology, and respiratory therapy.

What are the best things to do in Pacifica?

With the mild and warm temperatures, Pacifica is the perfect location for you to spend time outdoors. You’ll find several oceanfront beaches, but my favorite is Pacific State Beach in the Linda Mar community. It’s family-friendly and even popular with dogs. My other favorite beach is Sharp Park Beach because besides featuring scenic walking trails, it offers a 1,100 foot fishing pier. In the summer, we catch salmon and striped bass frequently. Besides the beaches, you’ll find plenty of other recreational opportunities, including the Sharp Park Golf Club, an outdoor skate park, and an indoor swimming pool. For a casual, fun experience, try dining at the Surf Spot, where they combine creative Californian dishes with their casual indoor and outdoor cafe. It’s paired with fire pits, a volleyball net, and live music to make the most of your beach experience. For an afternoon indulgence with friends, I stop in at Lovey’s Tea Shoppe, where I savor homemade scones and jam and tea sandwiches with the finest of teas. For a truly romantic evening, I’d suggest going to the Moonraker Restaurant. The restaurant offers breathtaking views of the surf, and features some of my favorites like a seared ahi tuna with a lobster risotto. They also offer a Sunday Brunch menu. Pacifica also features a rich artsy culture. At the Pacifica Center for the Arts, you can peruse exhibits or even take some art classes. You can also watch several of the Pacifica Performances concerts at the Center for the Arts, and you’ll experience a mixture of classical and jazz ad some comedy and dance too.

Is Pacifica right for me?

I love Pacifica because it’s a close-knit community. Local businesses thrive well, and the city even houses its own teen volunteer program: Leaders in Training Education. While the scenic beauty lured me originally, the community is why I stay.
